Great philosophical content and even better anecdotes

Another great book by Dudney containing clues to mindfulness during running but also heavily peppered with intense anecdotes from the author’s direct running experiences. The anecdotal sections reinforce the philosophy, in fact they provide the necessary foundation upon which it is built.

The mental side of running
10 December 2018 – Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I recently read The Mindful Runner: Finding Your Inner Focus. This a very enjoyable book and is a great addition to any runner’s book collection. The book focuses on the mental side of the sport and, like with all sports, ultimately it is the mental side of the equation that determines the ultimate ability to achieve one’s physical potential. This book provides the information and stories on how to do that.
The author draws from many of his own experiences as an ultramarathon runner to give the reader real life examples of how and why to be a mindful runner. And, actually the mental skills that presented in this book are valuable to runners and non-runners, alike. The idea of patience combined with determination is the key to success, regardless of how applied to life. That is true when running a 100-mile race or when attending a college course.
Gary writes in a humorous and engaging way. And, while there are times that I would not want to out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night with miles to go, Gary not only talks his walk but also walks his talk. Read the book and find out for yourself.
